Wedding Memories Empty Heads Contributed by: Alma Loveland Back in the 50’s, our wedding went as usual as we thought. After the ceremony, we found out how life was going to be. The three tier cake Mom made for us had the clear plastic paper still on the Bride and Groom topper, so it wouldn’t get dirty. We didn’t have any money for our honeymoon except for about $175 we received in gifts, so we decided to use half of it to go with and half to head home with. We dressed in our traveling clothes, and I asked him, “Where is your suitcase?” “I don’t have one.” He answered. “My clothes are on the back seat of the car.” So, just as I emptied my carefully packed suitcase, Mom announced that the photographer was there and was ready to take our going away pictures. We posed with the empty suitcase. We packed it with both of our clothes and drove to the end of my parents’ He asked, “Where do you want to go? Ugh! The only place I could think about was Niagara Falls, New York. The next question he asked was, “How do we get there?” I remembered seeing a sign pointing to NY. �������� ������ ���������� ������ �������� �������� �������� ������������ ���������������� ������������ ������ the highway, I looked to my right, and there was the Statue of Liberty! We were in the wrong part of New ������������������ ������������ �������� ���������������������� �������� �������������� ���������������� ������ Niagara Falls the next day. About that time, though half of our money was gone, so it was time to head home. We’ve been married 63 years.
