HOLIDAY GIFT GIVING GUIDE When you own an embroidery machine it’s comparable to having a pool in your backyard. Everyone you know wants to come over to visit when you have a pool, and everyone wants a beautiful handmade embroidered gift when they know you have an embroidery machine. I think people that aren’t familiar with embroidery think that these projects only take minutes to complete. We know they take a lot of time and a lot of love. Since we all create a lot of gifts for the holiday season we need to be sure to get an early start! That’s why we start our holiday season in July, so you can start your holiday projects each year. If you sent a fancy card you would be put on the A list, an average card and you were put on the B list, and a cheap card the C list. The following year she would then send you a comparable card to the one you sent her the previous year. I think she did the same thing with wedding gifts, birthdays, and every other occasion. She kept a lot of lists! I like to look at my Christmas list the same way. Dear friends and relatives may receive an elaborate quilt or tile scene, regular friends may receive a medium length project as now. This brings up my second point - what do you make? Most of our gift lists are long. If we had to make a quilt or a tile scene for everyone on our list we would never have time to finish. Short of buying more machines, we need to have a plan of action for our projects. When I was a kid, my grandmother (Anita herself) used to keep a running list of the quality of Christmas cards she would get a gift, and casual acquaintances will receive the quick and easy projects. At the end of the day not every person we create a gift for is quilt worthy! In this guide we are showcasing some gift ideas and projects from years past. We’ll talk about the difficulty of each, and which of the three categories they fit into, this way you can start planning your schedule right away.
