explore / from the county / What an exciting year we’re having at Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society. Our guests have watched Tesoro, a baby Mexican spider monkey, grow and become increasingly independent since her August 2016 birth. We welcomed a new jaguar to our amazing habitat in the Tropics of the Americas section of the Zoo. Fiona was orphaned in Panama in 2014, rescued through the efforts of the Pan American Association of Conservation (APPC), then featured on the TV show The Wildlife Docs, and finally introduced to the public at her new home at Palm Beach Zoo on Memorial Day Weekend 2017. In other exciting news, construction is underway on our new “Baum Entry Plaza”, made possible largely due to a generous donation from Ruth and Ted Baum. When it’s completed in November 2017 our entrance will have an impressive new look and increased capacity, improving our guest experience. Around the same time we’ll introduce the Lorikeet Loft, a walk-through aviary where you can feed nectar to the colorful and friendly parrot species known as lorikeets. Look for additional new exhibits, Monkey Mania and Ocelot Overlook, later in the year, as well. Palm Beach Zoo continues to lead the way on conservation. Every day we have 11 talks and shows included in your admission. Our zookeepers talk about the threats to endangered species in the wild and how mankind impacts them. Most importantly, they’ll tell you about a few easy things you can do in your daily life that can make a positive difference toward saving these animals in the wild. Thinking of a destination wedding? Palm Beach Zoo hosts dozens of weddings each year with stunning visuals and amazing up-close animal encounters. It’s also a favorite for class reunions, corporate parties, and birthday parties. Our in-house catering Department can make your event one to be remembered! If you’re thinking zoos are just for kids, think again! Palm Beach Zoo has a wide array of special events throughout the year appealing to adults as well as families. There are three 5K run/walk events each year helping to support big cat conservation. Join us in early January, mid May, early September, or for all three Big Cat Race Series events. One of the hottest trends in travel is to experience local craft breweries. Twice a year, in April and September, we present Brew At The Zoo featuring samples from the best South Florida breweries. The brewers themselves are here to pour your samples and tell you about their brews. During summer months there are Food Truck Safari events and our live music series, Roar & Pour, all featuring a local brewery tap-takeover, as well. It’s always a great day to visit Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society. See you soon!
