explore / attractions / Guess what? It is HOT! I mean stiflingly hot and not fun to be outdoors right now What pray tell can you do to fight this heat? Go hit up a water park! Look around the county and you will find some great places to stay cool and get wet. There are a few water parks and splash zones around to keep you cool and refreshed during these blazingly hot Summer days. Let us show you a few of the places nearby to play and soak. Rapids Water Park (West Palm Beach) One of the largest water parks in South Florida (30 acres to be exact), Rapids has so many things for you to do it’s mind-blowing. With 35 rides for young and old to experience, Rapids Water Park is the perfect place to escape the warm weather. The newest ride here is called the New Brain Drain, two 70-foot high enclosed flume waterslides. Each slide will give the rider a different ride pattern yet launch at the same time. This ride can reach speeds up to 35 mph. Wow! Another ride here is the “FlowRider”. Here you hop on your body board and ride the waves at 35 mph. For the more daring in your group try riding Big Thunder (a multi-person raft with a 45˚ drop), Rapids Racer (an enclosed flume race), Riptide Raftin (a 4 person raft ride through a 10 foot wide tube) or Black Thunder (a multi-person raft through the dark and a drop in a vortex). For those wanting something a little different try Body Blasters (no mat, no tubes-all waterslide), Pirates Plunge (an enclosed tunnel with a seven foot drop) or Raging Rapids (a multi-person raft flume). For the children there are such things to do like Splash Hill (8 different slides), Splish Splash Lagoon (slides, water cannons, swamp animals and a shipwreck) or the Barefootin Bay (sprayers, 6 Explore Palm Beach | Welcome to our world™ slides and a giant pineapple tipping bucket). Should you feel a little sluggish and just want to unwind, just float around on their lazy river and relax. Feel like a little privacy? Rent one of their cabanas for the day – privacy curtains, ceiling fan, flat screen TV, loveseat, locker and food/beverage service. You and your family will have an enjoyable and cool time while you’re here. Lion Country Safari (West Palm Beach) By now you know about the animals and the drive through safari where you can stay cool in your car, but you don’t really get wet. Did you know that they have a water play area here as well? This 4000 square-foot area called Safari Splash features 23 interactive kid-friendly water play zones. The Safari Plunge area is proud to boast two exciting water slides. The first water slide is an exciting 108-foot long freefall water slide. And the second water slide is a thrilling 214-foot long loop style water slide. These two new water slides will add a bit of adventure to your day. Also, included in the park is Water Wars, a fun interactive water balloon challenge to soak you and your friends. Take a moment from the animals and their habitats to cool off over at their water amusements this season. Wear Time To Beat This Summer Heat
