CRAZY STITCH Recipe A. B. 138 D. The first step with any quilt block is the placement stitch. This single running stitch will show you how large to cut your piece of fabric and where to place your batting and base fabric. C. The next step with any quilt block is the tacking stitch for the batting. This series of bean stitches will secure batting to the stabilizer. Once that runs, remove the hoop from your machine. While leaving the fabric hooped, trim the excess batting. E. Cover the placement stitch completely with the fabric. Where your fabric meets up with the outside stitch of the batting, make sure you leave at least a ½" seam allowance. You can use tape or spray adhesive to hold it in place. Place your batting over the placement stitch. Make sure the piece is large enough to completely cover the placement stitch. Next, run the placement stitch for the first piece of folded fabric. When using a folded fabric technique as your base, the first piece of folded fabric will always be treated like a regular piece of appliqué F. Run the tack down stitch, then cut off any excess fabric that is not part of the seam allowance. Run your next step which will be the placement stitch for the folded fabric.
