NOTES STANDARD APPLIQUÉ APPLI-STATS Minimum finishing stitch width: 4mm Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: Close as possible Fabrics that work best: Any Fabric Standard appliqué is the technique that is the most used. This is the easiest appliqué technique to master and design. The satin stitch that finishes the appliqué needs to be at least 4mm wide. If it is thinner than that, you may risk the appliqué slipping out from under the finishing stitch, ruining the design. The only downside to standard appliqué is that when the outline gets too wide, or there are multiple appliqués, the outline can look extremely bold, especially when the outline contrasts with the fabric.
