MYLAR APPLIQUÉ NOTES APPLI-STATS Minimum finishing stitch width: 4 mm with a light fill over mylar Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: Close as possible, gently Fabrics that work best: Mylar plastic Mylar appliqué uses thin sheets of plastic in place of standard fabrics for truly unique results. The problem with mylar is that it is very thin plastic and the finishing stitch will tear it when it stitches. We combat this by stitching a light fill on top of the mylar before the finishing stitch embroiders. This stitch prevents the mylar from tearing. Do not trim the mylar after the tacking stitch. Instead wait until the fill stitch is complete. This will prevent you from accidentally tearing the mylar.
