NOTES HEAT-N-SHRINK APPLIQUÉ APPLI-STATS Minimum finishing stitch width: 4 mm Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: Close as possible Fabrics that work best: Shiny fabrics Heat-n-Shrink is a stabilizer product that can be used with virtually any type of fabric, but we feel thin, shiny fabric works best. You simply hoop or tack down the Heat-n- Shrink with your fabric. You will then add free motion or patterned stitches on top of it. Once the stitching is finished, you simply use steam on the fabric. Once heat is applied, the Heat-n-Shrink will constrict and the patterned stitches will create an interesting pattern in the fabric (see above). You will then use this fabric as you would a standard appliqué in a design. The example above shows the shrunken fabric being used with a ghost stitch. Do not apply your iron directly to your fabric with the Heat-n-Shrink. You want to only apply steam from the iron a little at a time. Direct heat will cause the fabric to shrivel up so much that it will be unusable. We recommend shrinking it slowly and carefully so that you don’t end up with a piece of fabric too small to use as your appliqué.
