NOTES ORGANZA APPLIQUÉ APPLI-STATS Minimum finishing stitch width: 5mm Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: Leave 1/16” to compensate for pulling/slipping You can use many types of fabric as appliqué. Organza works well to create interesting dimension in your designs. It works the same way as standard appliqué, but you would want to use a slightly lower density on your finishing satin stitch so that it doesn’t tear or distort the organza, which is a thin fabric. When trimming, leave a little excess around the outer edge - not too much that it pokes through your finishing stitch, but enough that your organza doesn’t slip through the tacking stitch while the satin stitch is running. APPLI-STATS Minimum finishing stitch width: 4 mm Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: Close as possible Fabrics that work best: Clear vinyl and organza By using clear vinyl with organza stitched on top and bottom, you will end up with a look that resembles stained glass. The digitizing technique used is similar to standard appliqué, you simply add the clear vinyl across the whole base of the design, tack it and trim it. Once that is finished you will add organza to the top and bottom at the same time to designate the individual segments of the design. The whole design is created using appliqué and is finished in black thread. These designs are only intended to be used as free standing designs.
