MACRO-KEYBOARDS NOTES Most digitizing software utilizes shortcut keys. These keys take the place of complicated commands or icon buttons that are used to select stitches. When you digitize without a macro-keyboard, you spend half of your time selecting tools and leaving the actual digitizing area. With a macro-keyboard, you can program the keys with any command you like, consolidating all of that switching from one stitch to another to one hand, while your dominant hand quickly moves through a design. All of my stitches and commands are programmed into my custom keyboard and I programmed them into the shape of my actual hand. This way I can select stitches with my left hand while I digitize with my right. I never look at my left hand while I digitize and no longer have to keep reaching up with my stylus to select a stitch type. I use my first finger for a running stitch, second for a satin, third for a fill, and my pinky for the select button. I also have keys for trims, navigation arrows, and all of my commonly used tools. After a week or so, your fingers will play these keys like you would a piano making your design creation faster and easier. You don’t need to use a macro-keyboard to digitize, but I highly recommend it. The ones I use are designed by X-keys and are available in many different models
