BLANKET UNDERLAY NOTES Large designs present their own problems. This is why most embroidery companies only sell 4x4 or 5x7 designs. They are easy to create. Large designs can easily be over 100,000 stitches. The largest design I ever created was over 300,000 stitches in one hooping. The problems that occur can range from fabric puckering to the elements of the design separating. I prevent this problem by using a technique called blanket underlay. This is done by inserting a light fill or running stitches before anything else stitches. The fill will be very light and will go underneath the whole design. THIS WILL PREVENT... 1. Puckering 2. The design separating 3. Stitches not looking smooth Be sure to make the blanket underlay the same color as the fabric.
