METALLIC THREADS These types of threads add a great contrast to many embroidery designs, however they can present a challenge to work with even for experienced embroiderers. We recommend reducing the speed of your machine to about 600 rpm to lessen friction. Also, set the machine thread tensions as loose as possible to get the desired appearance. Different Brands - there are all types of metallic brands and threads on the market. Ultimately, the choice is up to you on what your prefer. We always mention in our collections which brand and color is being used. Thread Director - changes the position of the spool allowing the thread to unwind flat, eliminating twisting, which causes the thread to break. Thread Stand and Net Sock - these help keep threads from unwinding on their own while in use and the nets do not interfere with thread tension. These are great for specialty and metallic threads. Freezing - prolong the life of your metallic thread, keep it in the freezer. Be sure to bring the thread to room temperature before sewing. Freezing it will also help with thread breakage.
