NOTES TYPES OF ARTWORK Technically, you can digitize a design from any type of artwork since all we are really doing is using the artwork as a background, and then creating our stitches to go on top of it. That being said, when you start with good artwork it is a much easier process. There are two types of art that we generally use when we digitize a design. The first type is vector art which is created in the computer by programs like Adobe Illustrator. The second type is raster art, or artwork that is scanned into the computer. VECTOR ART There are many advantages to creating artwork in your computer. The main advantage is that you can easily edit and manipulate the designs. As digitizers, we can do that as well. To digitize a design we will need to vector art exported as a tiff or jpeg at 300dpi. INCLUDED ART RASTER ART Art: DU-bandit Scanned art is usually either drawn or painted by hand. Once it is drawn, it is then scanned into the computer for digitizing. There is nothing that can be edited from raster artwork since it is technically just a photograph. However, sometimes we add additional vector elements to the design to improve them.
