FABRICS Silk Merely mentioning silk causes the mind to think luxury. Silk is a fabric with an enchanting history, softness fit for a Queen and lustrous beauty, which is why we love to use it. Silk works great as base fabric or appliqué, and metallic thread really sets it off. When using silk make sure you use a webbed fusible backing in order to keep your silk from drawing in too much or ripping apart on designs with high stitch counts. Tulle Tulle is a popular netting made from silk, nylon, or rayon and is used for a variety of purposes. Tulle fabric is used for clothing items including skirts, dresses (including wedding dresses), coats, bed skirts, bows, and jackets. Tulle netting is also popularly used in veils and tutus. We love using Tulle in our confetti appliqué technique because it is a mesh that allows the confetti to show through beautifully without falling all over the place. Golden Tapestry Flora and Fauna
