FABRICS Linen Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant. Linen is laborious to manufacture, but the fiber is very absorbent and garments made of linen are valued for their exceptional coolness and freshness in hot weather. Many products are made of linen: aprons, bags, towels, napkins, bed linens, tablecloths, runners. This type of material handles well in the hoop for stitching or appliqué. Batiks Batik is a cloth that is dyed using the Batik method. This is a method of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left un-dyed. This beautifully dyed fabric can be used in just about any of our collections from quilt blocks, appliqué, zipper bags, and handles wonderfully when sewn on.
