What Is Metallic Thread? The Floriani Premium Metallic Threads we mostly use are created with a very strong inner core made of polyester. The polyester core is coated with brilliant metallic colors, but then it is coated with a special lubricating hardener to prevent the metal from flaking. This special lubricant also allows the Floriani Metallic Thread to flow evenly and without restriction through your machine. Metallic thread is fun to use to add sparkle and shimmer to any project. It’s also great for adding a bit of “bling” to garments as well! There are many companies that sell a wide range of metallic threads, even in variegated! METALLIC THREAD Collections Using Metallic Threads We love using metallic thread, especially on silk. In the collection Golden Tapestry we used navy blue Dupioni silk and metallic thread throughout all the blocks.
