What Is Hologram Thread? Glitter is a flat, hologram mylar thread which has incredible shine. Many companies make this type of thread, and it’s usually comprised of several plies of mylar. Refer to the manufacturers instructions for recommended needle size with this type of thread. Also the tips for metallic thread apply to this type of thread as well. HOLOGRAM (GLITTER) THREAD Collections using Hologram threads When we did the collection Snowflakes of Rohan, we wanted to use sparkle organza for the base fabric and folded fabric borders. We then wanted to further enhance the design by using a thread that sparkles too. We zoomed in on this particular design so you could see how the thread shimmers in the light making these snowflakes sparkle, which worked perfectly on the sparkle organza.
