Why don’t the thread colors appear correctly in my machine? This is actually a very easy question to answer. There are around 25 to 30 different embroidery machines available on the market today. These machines are made by many different manufacturers and use many different design formats. Some of the design formats hold color information relating to current thread manufacturers and others only hold basic color information. If we create a design and use Floriani thread it may show up in a newer Brother machine exactly the way we created it, but it may show up differently in a Pfaff or Bernina. How can we fix that? The answer is that it is impossible to do with 100% accuracy. We do the best we can to make sure the designs appear on your screen in colors that are as close to the colors we use. The problem that often occurs is that we may create the design using a 2015 pallette of thread colors but the design will be opened in a machine that could be 5 years old. That machine doesnt event have the newer thread colors in it. To combat this problem we include a PDF file that shows the exact colors of thread we use. We recommend consulting the PDF file or the pages in your All Access book when lining up your thread colors. The colors in the book are accurate, the colors that appear on your embroidery machine may not be. How do other companies do it? This is an easy answer as well. They don’t. If you buy a design from Bernina, the design may come up perfectly in a Bernina machine using Isacord thread, but it may not in other brands of machines. Each embroidery design company usually chooses one machine brand and one thread brand to be fully compatible with. If you don’t use that thread or brand of machine you will usually have to convert your own colors to match your thread brand. As a design company keeping up with the technology of dozens of different machines is the most difficult part of our business. WHAT TO DO FIRST, DONT PANIC! There’s an App for that! We recommend purchasing or downloading a thread database or conversion software. These programs are often available as an App that you can install right on your phone. The idea behind these Apps and programs is that you can type in the color that our tutorials indicate and then type in your thread brand or brands and the program will give you the closest match. This is a great way to use the thread you already have. You can always use multiple brands of thread in one project as well. There is no rule saying that you can only use one thread brand. In order to find the app or program we suggest consulting the website of the thread brand that you use. They usually offer programs, apps, and conversion charts.
