RAW EDGE APPLIQUÉ NOTES The look of this type of design is supposed to be slightly unfinished - it works well with fabrics that don’t fray, like felts, or with knits for a more retro look. APPLI-STATS Finishing stitch: 3-ply to 9-ply bean Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: Even edge Fabrics that work best: Knits or felts Raw edge appliqué is as simple as it may sound. The first two steps are the same - standard placement and standard tacking stitches are used. However, the tacking stitch should always match the fabric color. The finishing stitch is a bean of any ply that is usually longer than 5mm. Carefully trim the appliqué when you are finished so you are left with an attractive edge.
