REVERSE APPLIQUÉ NOTES APPLI-STATS Finishing stitch: 3-ply to 9-ply bean Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: Even edge Fabrics that work best: Knits or cotton Reverse appliqué is the only appliqué type that places the appliqué fabric behind the base fabric. After the placement stitch is embroidered take your appliqué fabric and place it face down on the back of the hoop and tape in place. Tack the appliqué in place as you normally would. When it is time to trim, you will trim the shirt or top fabric away revealing the appliqué fabric underneath. When the design is laundered, the shirt or base fabric will curl, resulting in an interesting look. This technique is primarily used on clothing.
