NOTES BLANKET STITCH APPLIQUÉ APPLI-STATS Finishing stitch: 4-ply, E stitches at least 5 mm in width Tacking style: 2-ply Trimming style: As close as possible Fabrics that work best: Most fabrics Blanket stitch appliqué is a traditional technique that looks like the fabric pieces were stitched down by hand. The design is created by bringing the thread in and out in a series of E stitches. We prefer to use 4 passes over each line. To do this, use a 2-ply stitch to go in and out on each line, and then use a 2-ply again to go around the outer edge. By doing this, each line will have exactly 4 layers of thread. Blanket stitch appliqué is a traditional quilting technique that can give designs a homespun look. Make sure you are careful when trimming - the edge of the fabric is visible when completed.
