69 Now that the kids are back in school, hopefully you have ������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������ students organized in the classroom! However, by now they are probably working on homework, and need to be fully stocked with sharpened pencils, crayons, safety scissors, as well as other tools needed to complete their studies. So now that you have all of these items in your house, where are you going to put them? My children have designated study areas in our home, but they struggle to get started if they are missing the required items to ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� always be a challenge! ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� pencil holder that can be used for a variety of supplies, and I �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� items we already had on hand. If you would like to recreate our Homemade Pencil Holder, you will need the following: * Empty and Clean Vegetable Can * Glue * Safety Scissors * Ruler * Various Colors of Construction Paper * Pencil or Crayons * Optional items like buttons, gems, or yarn �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� it is dry and that there are no sharp edges on the inside, where the lid was removed. Next, have your child select a solid color of construction paper to be the base of their creation. I measured our cans to be around 4½ inches tall, I used a ruler to trace that length and we cut out what we needed with the safety scissors. The left over construction paper was then set aside. The base paper then needs to be glued around the outside of the can. Make sure that you add plenty of glue to secure it. Once dried, cut off any excess paper along the edges. Then, take any leftover construction paper and cut into random small shapes. This can be used to make mosaic designs, or add color to the outside of the holder. Once you have all of the art supplies ready, it is then time to let �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� with glue to make the pencil holder their own. �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� can see their personalities shine through. Not only are we using these holders for pencils, but we also used one for leftover craft stickers and a glue stick, and the other was the perfect size for a bottle of glue and tape.
