Start by cutting your binding strips 2.5” wide, which creates an approximate 5/8” binding. We will show you how to attach the strips in order to create one long binding strip measuring 113.0”. This will be enough to wrap around the entire perimeter of your towel. Using a 1/2” seam allowance, start at point A and stitch to point B, which is 1/2” from the edge of perpendicular fabric. Then continue stitching on a 45° angle to point C, which is the edge of the binding strip. With right sides together, lay two strips of being perpendicular to each other. At a 45° angle, stitch the two strips together leaving a 1/2” seam allowance. Then, trim the seam allowance to 1/4” and press open. Repeat to connect enough strips to equal 113.0”. Starting at the bottom center of your towel, place the binding strip along the edge of the towel, right sides together. Fold the start edge back as shown in dotted circle and pin strip in place along dotted line. Remove the fabric and binding from your sewing machine. Now fold the binding back on itself, perpendicular to the seam you just stitched. This will create a diagonal fold over the stitch created from the points shown in step E. | |57 You are ready to add the back fabric that you cut and placed to side in step A. Place the backing fabric, face down, with the front of your towel, face up. The two fabrics should align on all sides since both were cut 22.0” x 32.0”. You are now ready to attach the binding strip. FINISHING TOWEL steps
