Creating blanket stitch appliqué is very similar to the conventional appliqué technique, however the main difference is the finishing stitch bordering each appliqué piece. Using this style of appliqué eludes to a home spun and hand-placed look which is perfect for the Heirloom Christmas theme. The designs are created using multiple pieces of appliqué fabric. Therefore we are unable to provide exact dimensions for each piece appliqué. The easiest way to measure your fabric before stitching any one of these designs is to measure the placement stitches as you go, and cut accordingly. We encourage you to experiment with different types of fabrics. We used linen, burlap, and even upholstery fabrics to create these designs.
