STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS STEP P Stitch the rows together along the common seam, just inside the squaring stitch line. Remove the pins as you go. STEP Q After both rows are sewn together, the placemat will look like this. Butterfly and press the seams open to get the placemat to lay as flat as possible. STEP R Place your back fabric, face down, followed by a piece of batting. Next, place your quilt blocks on top, face up, over the other layers. Use safety pins to hold all three layers together. Cut your new materials to have a 1/2" seam allowance around the entire placemat for binding later.
