Festive Tile Scene steps STITCHING TILE SCENE TOGETHER g h Now, connect blocks 1 and 3 together using the same steps as you did to connect blocks 2 and 4. Once blocks 1 and 3 are stitched together, you are ready to sew the separate columns together. i j The four blocks should now all be stitched together, creating the window tile scene quilt top. You are ready to add your backing and binding to finish your quilt. k l Using quilting safety pins, place one in each block connecting the quilt top and backing fabric together. This will eliminate the fabrics from shifting during the quilting process. Place the right column on top of the left column, right sides together, lining up the tack down stitches of the folded fabric borders and pin in place. Using your sewing machine, straight stitch slightly inside the tack down stitches, removing the pins as you go. Next, place your backing fabric face down and layer it with your quilt top, face up. The backing fabric should extend the quilt top by 2.0” on each side. Using a walking foot and clear or matching thread, carefully stitch in the ditch through all of the layers of the quilt. “Stitch in the ditch” simply means to stitch along each of the quilt blocks seams. This method minimizes how much thread shows on the top of the quilt. Heirloom Christmas | Premium Collection | 117 1 3 2 4
