Fall Getaway in the Brandywine Valley Just as Linus sits in the pumpkin patch waiting for the great pumpkin, people come from miles around to the Brandywine Valley the last weekend of the month of October each year to witness the Great Pumpkin Carve event. Starting on Thursday, Oct 19, 60 artists will carve and transform giant pumpkins weighing from 150 to 400 pounds into works of art. Nothing brings the Halloween Season alive more than the Chadds Ford Great Pumpkin Carve. After hours of carving, the pumpkins will be lit, judged and displayed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. As you watch these artists at work you can also treat yourself to great food and fall treats offered by local eateries, enjoy live music, hayrides and a haunted trail. The event is Located on the grounds of the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Barn Visitors Center and presented by Chadds Ford Historical Society. All proceeds help fund the preservation efforts of the Historical Society. 1736 North Creek Road, Chadds Ford, Pa. Admission: $10 for adults 18 and older, $5 for ages 7 to 17; Ages 6 and under are free During the same weekend, you can also visit the Longwood Gardens Chrysanthemum Festival.
