famous FOODIE We are excited to welcome you as a Buccaneer! How does it feel to be a part of the Tampa Bay community? It’s great —I’m genuinely excited! There’s so much going on in the Tampa Bay area from restaurants to shopping to nearby beaches, and probably so much more that I don’t know about yet. It’s just a beautiful area to call my new home. You describe yourself as a “foodie.” What makes you say this? My girlfriend, Mariah, and I are both really into fitness and nutrition with my playing football and her bodybuilding. With this lifestyle comes a dedication to healthy eating, making smart nutrition choices to fuel our bodies properly, and meal prepping. So many people assume that automatically means we don’t enjoy indulging in good food but it’s the opposite! When you’re this mindful about what you eat, you really gain more of an appreciation for food. The wide variety of food in the world fascinates us, and we want to try all of it. What is your favorite kind of cuisine? Above all, steak is my favorite food—mainly ribeye. I love a good steakhouse. We both love going to places that can grill great steaks, chicken and burgers. How often do you dine out? How often we dine out is usually dictated by how busy we are. If we don’t feel like cooking we might go out somewhere we know has healthy options. But we always have one date day a week, and on that day we aren’t looking for healthy! We’ll pick a spot for breakfast, a spot for dinner and a spot for dessert. We both really look forward to that day each week. Now that we’ve moved to Tampa, I think we might be doing two date days a week because there’s so much we want to try here. What is on your Tampa Bay restaurant bucket list? We actually have an entire restaurant bucket list. As of now there are 52 restaurants on the list so we have a ways to go… and we’re always looking for more suggestions! The first restaurants I want to cross off includeDatz, Dough, Daily Eats (we heard they have a Cap’n Crunch French Toast), Ocean Prime, Fly Bar & Restaurant (really want to try the truffle mac and cheese), Better Byrd, BurgerFi, Ava Italian and Brickhouse Tavern. We might need to write all of these on the wall and throw a dart to decide where to go next. Chris GodWin Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wide Receiver LocalsDISH welcomes Chris Godwin to Tampa! Haven’t heard of him yet? You will. A wide receiver for Penn State, Godwin was drafted by the Bucs in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft after his junior season. Now in Tampa, Chris expects that his dedication and work ethic will continue to pay off in big moments for the Buccaneers. We learned that Chris is a foodie, and of course we had to know more about him and what he’s looking forward to (eating) in Tampa Bay. always da for and a w might be w Ba res on f cross Cap’ Restaura B mig de looking 8 localsDISH SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2017
