Mozart. Libretto by Giovanni Battista Varesco. Directed by David Walsh. Based on a story from Homer, this opera about King Idomeneo of Crete takes place just after the Trojan War. The captured Trojan princess Ilia, who is grieving the death of her father and brother, hates Idomeneo but is in love with his son. Unfortunately, the sea god Neptune and Greek princess Elektra have their own agendas which disrupt the lovers’ plans.
