Annual Report Our Successes Each year, city of Clearwater departments and employees work hard to deliver our residents core services, such as police and fire protection, the production of drinking water, garbage and recycling collection, and more. Clearwater also strives to provide a great quality of life for those who call Clearwater home. Some services include state-of-the-art recreation centers and five library branches. Here are Clearwater’s top accomplishments citywide – listed in alphabetical order – that spanned Fiscal Year 2016/17. Clearwater Ferry Water Taxi Increased support for water taxi services connecting the city’s Downtown Harbor Marina, Beach Marina and the Beach Recreation Center. This twoyear contract has plans to expand service operations to North Beach and Sand Key. Habitat for Humanity Homes Broke ground and helped fund 12 single-family natural gas 62 MyClearwater homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County. The homes are located near the northeast corner of North Garden Avenue and Maple Street in Clearwater. Island Estates Bridges Completed construction of four new bridges in the Island Estates neighborhood. New Beach Parking Garage Opened the North Beach Parking Plaza, formerly the Pelican Walk Parking Garage, in a joint opportunity with Paradise Ventures that provides much needed parking for north beach business employees and visitors. New Website Completed a redesign, cloud migration and roll-out of the city’s website to a more modern, mobile-responsive platform. Teams worked with all city departments to ensure the new site met internal and external users’ needs. North Marina Master Plan Initiated final design and permit plans for implementation of Phase I of the North Marina master Plan. This includes improvements to landscaping, lighting, transient boat slips, connecting trails between the Pinellas Trail and the waterfront, lighting, new parking areas, and development of new waterfront park areas. Police Arrests for Homicide Investigations Achieved a 100-percent arrest rate on homicide investigations occurring this fiscal year. yWate
