A W O R D F R O M O U R D I R E C T O R Dear Friend of the Performing Arts, Welcome to the 2017-2018 B.I.G. season – Beautiful, Inspired and Gleeful. Since 1984, SFSC brought world class performances to our 1,460-seat, state-of-the-art Alan Jay Wildstein Center for the Performing Arts and our intimate 250-seat SFSC University Center. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a longtime friend, we guarantee you a delightful experience of our Matinee, Artist, Trending Now, Jazz, Kaleidoscope or Young People’s Theater performances. The beauty, grace and power of ballet will transport you to a magical time with The Nutcracker, the ideal holiday performance for all ages. The Broadway tour of Amazing Grace features a moving score and true story of one man whose incredible journey ignited a historic wave of change that gave birth to the abolitionist movement and the world’s most beloved hymn. The Florida Orchestra, the largest symphony orchestra in Florida, promises a beautiful evening featuring the music of Rachmaninoff and Dvorak. Get inspired by Black Violin which performs a genre-shattering fusion of classical and hip hop music. Jason Farnham, who has been called “the 21st century Victor Borge,” may inspire you to take piano lessons after his captivating performance. Several shows this season will put a spring in your step and a smile on your face. Mutts Gone Nuts will have the entire family rolling in the aisles. Jazz musician Eddie Metz and The Edwards Twins always deliver smiles with their showmanship and style. For the biggest laughs of the season, be sure to see Menopause, a hysterical celebration of real women. SFSC also brings you BIG stars: Grammy Award winners Petula Clark, Chubby Checker, Mary Wilson and America, the soft rock icons of the ’70s. Whether you are a series subscriber or a single ticket patron, don’t wait. Many of our shows sell out. The season would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, donors, grantors, volunteers and, of course, you! We thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at the theater. Be Safe, Be Healthy, Be Happy, Cindy Garren, M.F.A.
