PET FIRST AID www.PetPages.com 15 Sara Beavin, Owner/Instructor Pet First Aid & CPR Sara is a Louisville native, she met her husband Frank at UK where she graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy. They have 2 sons, 2 grandsons and 7 special needs senior dogs. Pet Pages: What inspired you to start Pet First Aid & CPR? Sara: I earned my original Pet ���������������������������������������������������������������������������� through the Red Cross and was a volunteer Pet First Aid instructor for the Louisville Chapter. Pet people started asking me about other programs especially classes for young children. So I began developing programs in response to varied requests and to answer my own questions regarding pet parenting. That lead me to further educational opportunities - I have studied �������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� as a Pet Food Nutrition Specialist. I hope to continue to study various areas of pet care in order to be the best dog mom that I can be, and to ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� PP: What did you do before this venture? S: I was a Physical Therapist and Rehab Services Director at a Louis- ���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������� orthopedics and fall prevention. I had served in that position for 25 years when the facility went through administrative changes which I was not completely comfortable with. Since I had wanted to work with dogs in some capacity, when I left my PT practice I decided to follow my heart and pursue this new adventure. PP: How long have you been the Pet First Aid & CPR owner? S: After I began to develop my own programs to meet the needs and requests of pet people, I decided to start Pet First Aid & CPR in addition to being a volunteer Red Cross Pet First Aid Instructor. That was almost 10 years ago. About 2 years ago, the Red Cross dropped all of their pet related classes, so now Pet First Aid & CPR is there to carry on and meet the needs of pet parents. PP:������������������������������������������������������������������ S: I teach classes throughout the Metro Louisville area and within a 100 mile radius of Louisville.
