16 | ACTIVITIES DIRECTIONSGA.COM Two Towns, The twin towns of McCaysville and Copperhill hold plenty of treasures for visitors who “cross the line.” Cross the river on the historic steel bridge to find cold brews, amazing Asian cuisine and plenty of shopping — including unique antiques and one-of-a-kind rustic décor. Venture across the concrete bridge to discover boutiques, and tea and coffee shops serving light fare. You’ll also find antiques, top-of-theline consignments, jams and jellies, crystals and salt lamps, books, collectibles and African décor. Throughout the McCaysville/ Copperhill area, in fact, you’ll find plenty of great eats, including Tex- Mex, Mexican, steaks, burgers, pizza, barbecue and sweets galore. You’ll also find a variety of unique shops featuring knives, flags, collectibles, handmade Native American jewelry, poured candles, holiday décor, outdoor gear and more. More Reasons to Visit While you’re there, check out the area’s popular local attractions: → The Blue Line — Take a family “selfie” as you straddle the blue line and stand in two states at one time! Two states’ worth of food, fun and shopping await you in one adventure-packed corner. The locals call this area the Copper Basin due to the long history of copper mining in the area. Here, two bridges (one steel, the other concrete) separate two states, and one river has two names (the Toccoa on the Georgia side, the Ocoee on the Tennessee side). Ride the Rails (or Hop in the Car) If you’re riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, these twin towns are the “end of the line” — the place where passengers disembark for a bite to eat and an amble through quaint shops filled with antiques, clothing, gifts and arts & crafts. Of course, you don’t have to ride the train to visit. It’s a quick drive from Blue Ridge (just 10 miles on GA Hwy. 5) or Morganton (11 miles on GA Hwy. 60). Pick a Side, Any Side You’ll find treasures on both sides of the state line — from quaint boutiques and interesting shops to great eats and cold drinks.
