DIRECTIONSGA.COM DINING | 23 #2 Riverside Dining (Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, 8055 Aska Rd.) — The views are as wonderful as the food at this perennial favorite. The vibe is upscale rustic, with dining available inside or on the deck overlooking the scenic Toccoa River. Trout is the specialty: fried, blackened, crab-stuffed and pecan-encrusted. Did we mention the view? #3 Great Food and Brew (Blue Ridge Brewery, 187 Depot St.) — Take local flights, fine wines and top shelf drinks, mix them with great food and live music, and you have the makings of your new favorite neighborhood pub. On tap, there’s an impressive selection of imported and craft beer (a few brewed on-site). Trendy appetizers, upscale burgers and fresh-made pub grub fill out the menu. There are two dining rooms and a lively bar; reservations are suggested. #4 Loaded for Lunch (Angelina’s Deli & Gourmet Market, 3640 E. First St.) — It ain’t bragging if it’s true, and Angelina’s truly has some of the best sandwiches in town. While you wait, they make paninis and specialty sandwiches, as well as wraps (try the chipotle chicken caesar wrap). Order at the deli counter then grab a seat (or check out the imported goods). #5 Grab some Legs (Southern Charm, 224 W. Main St.) — Legs (of both the you Gotta TRY! chicken and crab variety) are on the menu at this downtown fav. The cookin’ is down-home delicious — from chicken and dumplings to fried catfish and popcorn shrimp. Start off with some fried green tomatoes or pickles ... add in a hearty Southern entrée ... and wash it all down with some peach tea and homemade biscuits. Weekends are for slowroasted prime rib (Fri. & Sat.) and steamed Alaskan Snow Crab (Sat.).
