DIRECTIONSGA.COM WELCOME | 7 i magic There’s Photo by Takeshia Arp in Our crisp Mountain Air Blue Ridge is officially a four-season destination. Whether you’re visiting in spring, summer, fall or winter, you’ll find something to do — even if it’s just relaxing on the deck of your rental cabin with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. In the fall, the air is full of the sweet smells of the harvest: fresh apple cider and hot fried pies at a local apple house … a bucket of sizzling kettle corn at a fall festival. It seems like there are fairs and festivals most every weekend. For example, you’ll find 100+ arts, crafts and food booths at the biannual Arts in the Park festival. Local builders and craftsmen show off their talents at the Home Builders Showcase, and the Blairsville Sorghum Festival introduces folks to a true North Georgia delicacy. The Fun Doesn’t Stop in Winter Ex p lo re! Winter brings its own special charm to the area. For the holidays, enjoy a train ride on the Santa Express, and watch as the Great Tree is lit during the Light Up Blue Ridge festivities. Start the new year off with a post-holiday visit, when the pace is slower and the mountains are dusted with snow. Come February, the Fire & Ice Chili Cook-Off will entice you back outside with hot chili, cool ice sculptures and plenty of musical entertainment. Be sure to check the Calendar of Events on pages 60-63 for even more seasonal fun!
