CENTER FOR LAW AND JUSTICE When it comes to anti-Semitism, CUNY should be extra-vigilant. The ZOA recently documented harassment and intimidation endured by Jewish students on four CUNY campuses, including crowds shouting “Jews out of CUNY” and “Death to Jews.” Even Sarsour’s feminism is bigoted. She claims that Zionists cannot be feminists, and she has condemned and demeaned a genuine feminist, Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Ms. Hirsi Ali was subjected to genital cutting as a young Muslim girl and opposed her family’s efforts to force her to marry against her wishes. In the face of death threats, she has spoken out courageously against the role Islam plays in perpetuating the abuse of girls and women. Yet Sarsour is contemptuous of Hirsi Ali, tweeting that her “vagina should be taken away” and that she doesn’t “deserve” to be a woman. Sarsour does speak positively about terrorism and violence against Jews and Israelis. She praised a photo of an Arab child holding rocks in both hands and walking toward Israeli soldiers as “the definition of courage.” When criticized for this tweet, Sarsour responded: “The Zionist trolls are out to play. Bring it.” She also praised the intifada—the term for the Palestinian Arab terror war against Jews in Israel—calling it “invaluable on many fronts.” Last April, Sarsour shared a stage with Rasmea Odeh, who served time in an Israeli prison for her role in a supermarket bombing that killed two college students. Now, her U.S. citizenship is being revoked, and she is being deported to Jordan. Sarsour nonetheless publicly praised
