ASSEMBLING THE SCENE INSTRUCTIONS G H With a sewing machine, stitch the columns together slightly inside the tacking stitch using a 1/2” seam allowance. Remember to remove the pins as you sew. I J Next, lay down your backing fabric, right side facing down. Make sure your backing fabric is at least 2.0” larger than your finished quilt top on all four sides. Using quilting pins, pin both layers together. K L Using a ruler and rotary cutter, trim the layers leaving a 1/2” seam allowance. You are now ready to sew the columns together. With right sides together, place one column on top of the other with the seam from each column lining up. Be sure to check for accurate alignment of all the elements in the design. Pin in place. Your tile scene will look like this once all the columns are sewn together. Using a sewing machine, sew all three layers together by stitching the seams that connect each block. This technique is called “Stitch in the Ditch”. Be sure to use either a matching thread or monofilament thread. HEART TILE SCENES | Full Collection | 105
