Jesuit’s Campus Master Plan Gonzmart Hall, Oliva Courtyard Announced at PMB 20 JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • FALL 2017 Scan for a special video about Jesuit High School and the Campus Master Plan During his State of the School address at the President’s Mass & Breakfast on Aug. 27, Jesuit president Fr. Richard C. Hermes, S.J. made several major announcements about the ongoing Phase I of the Campus Master Plan, which broke ground in June 2016. The new 32,000-square foot administration building will be named Gonzmart Hall, in honor of distinguished alumnus Richard Gonzmart ’71. In 2013, Gonzmart launched the silent phase of the school’s $40 million ‘For Greater Glory’ capital campaign, which supports the Campus Master Plan, with a $1 million gift. In 2016, Gonzmart raised that gift another $1.5 million to a total of $2.5 million. Gonzmart’s gift is the third-largest in the history of the school, and he was the fi rst alumnus to donate $1 million. Jesuit’s 1998-99 Alumnus of the Year, Gonzmart has lent his time, talent and treasure to the school countless times through the years, notably via Jesuit’s award-winning annual fundraiser Gaudiosa, and the annual Fr, Richard G. Hartnett, S.J. Memorial Golf Classic. Gonzmart Hall will open in December as the face of Jesuit on Himes Avenue. It will house the school’s administration, language classrooms, IT department, counseling offi ces, and student activities offi ces, and serve generations of future Jesuit students. The other major structure in Phase I, the magnifi cent Chapel of the Holy Cross at the heart of the campus, will be dedicated in the spring of 2018. Linking the Chapel of the Holy Cross with Gonzmart Hall, Fr. Hermes announced, will be the stately John Oliva Family Courtyard, named in honor of Jesuit’s 2016-17 Alumnus of the Year, John Oliva ’60. Oliva made one of several gifts of $1 million to the ‘For Greater Glory’ campaign and is a campaign co-chair along with Joe Capitano Jr. ’84 and Gonzmart. Future developments in the Campus Master Plan include a new Science and Math building that will be named in honor of Richard Stephen Jenkins ‘75. Jenkins and his wife, Carole, made a $2.5 million donation to the school last year. Also planned in future developments is a collegiate-style Student Activities Center with adjacent Dining Hall. Richard Gonzmart ’71 launched the school’s ‘For Greater Glory’ campaign with an initial $1 million donation, and he will be honored with Gonzmart Hall John Oliva ’60 is the namesake of Jesuit’s Oliva Family Courtyard, which will connect Gonzmart Hall and the Chapel of the Holy Cross
