Family Partnership Center Rebrands As In 1994, good friends Sue Swartz, Barbara Brownell, and Bill McArthur, wanted to provide a safe place where ANY parent who had questions about their children’s behaviors, or parenting in general, could go for knowledgeable answers and support. Together, they created the Family Partnership Center (FPC). “At the time, there were only services for parents who already had their kids removed,” said Brownell, who continues to work at FPC. “Nothing was available for a parent that was starting to struggle or even someone who was doing OK, but wasn’t sure of how to parent well.” “We felt that was wrong, backwards actually. It made so much more sense to help families before problems escalated. It was better for the parents, the kids, and even the community. So, Family Partnership Center was founded to serve everybody, and anybody, that had questions about the amazingly rewarding, yet sometimes challenging job of parenting children.” After years of renting space, FPC purchased a more permanent home at 602 3rd Street East in Bradenton. With the new location secured, the Board of Directors decided it was a perfect time to start talking about rebranding with a new name that better conveys the essence of what the organization believes. With the previously added tagline Parenting Matters it was a unanimous vote to make the tag line their permanent name change. “This month we will ofcially be Parenting Matters,” said FPC’s marketing and development manager Bridget Harry. “I joined the staff in January and we started the rebranding process in June. We are very excited for the new logo, and new colors. We truly feel our new name will help families better identify what we do and how we can help.” “Our mission and our vision will remain the same as it has for 23 years,” said Parenting Matters Executive Director Katrina Bellemare. “And that is to strengthen families, and prevent child abuse and neglect in at-risk families in Manatee & Sarasota Counties, by providing parenting education and support services. Our vision to ensure all families in our community have access to the skills and support needed to effectively parent their children remains the same.” “Let’s face it – parenting is difficult,” Bellemare continued, “Many would argue it is the most challenging, yet most important job in the world. But you 49 Bridget Harry and Katrina Bellemare
