County Commissioners Help Promote Back To School Library Card Campaign. Manatee Libraries welcomed the Board of County Commissioners as special readers at various Preschool Storytimes during the month of August. The visits were part of the Back to School Library Card Campaign. The children were encouraged to sign up for a library card if they didn’t already have one, and enjoyed having their photographs taken with a Commissioner. Library Services Manager, Ava Ehde, appreciated the time the Commissioners took out of their busy schedules to read to the kids. She said: “We’re so pleased that each of the Manatee County 15 Items You Can Check Out With Your Manatee Library Card: 15 Items You Can Check With Your Manatee Over 62,000 books for ages 18 & under eBooks & eComic Books DVDs CDs eAudiobooks Commissioners made the time to stop by and visit with our most important customers. It’s inspirational when our community leaders can serve as examples to children, show them the importance of reading, and the lifelong learning value of obtaining their own public library card.” The Back to School Library Card Promo has continued to generate interest. Several children have received permission from their parents/guardians to have their pictures taken with an “I Got My Library Card Today” photo frame which are then uploaded to the Manatee Libraries Instagram site at instragram. com/manalibraries.
