25 YEARS AGO - November/December 1992
The ancient Rite of Epiphany,
which is celebrated by the
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox
church in Tarpon Springs, was
the subject of an article by
Harriet Protos. It highlighted
the ceremony at Spring Bayou
to retrieve the cross that is
thrown by the chief celebrant
into the cold water. The Greek
community carries on this
tradition each January, bringing
thousands of visitors to Tarpon
Springs.

author Michael Vollbracht,
who was the creative
director and couture
designer of Bill Blass from
2002 to 2007, unveiled a
group of new works on
canvas and paper. Michael
continues to live and create
in Safety Harbor, as he has
for decades.
Bishop Philip (Koutoufas)
of Atlanta was the chief
celebrant for Epiphany in
Tarpon Springs that year.
The Nutcracker
was performed at
Ruth Eckerd Hall in
Clearwater.
