Heartfelt Thanks By Jimmy Prosser
For health, for love, for care, and support. Be thankful Tybee is your home. Be
thankful for the community and the friendships. Be thankful we’re all here. In
times like this, after Irma, and previously, after Matthew. It is overwhelming
the amount of love and support that come from our hearts to our neighbors,
our friends, and our loved ones. We at the Beachcomber, and as Tybee locals,
want to take a moment to share a special thank you to each and every one of
you for your efforts after Hurricane Irma. So, from the bottom of our hearts,
here’s a shout out (and we apologize that we are not able to name everyone
- but that doesn’t mean your efforts have gone unnoticed) to everyone that
stepped up in this time of need:
Tybee Strong Facebook Group, with Jeremy Riberdy and Carter
Metts, who have organized countless furniture donations.
Calvin Ratteree, at Nickie’s, for hosting furniture donations, as well as
feeding us, along with Huc-A-Poo’s Eric and Heather Thomas.
IGA for working diligently to reopen and help us to restock our
homes.
Anthony Debreceny of The Deck and The Collin’s Quarter for filling a
U-Haul full of furniture and Renee Mason for storing it all.
Savannah Area Relators for purchasing countless new mattresses to
give to families who had nothing left.
The Patel’s, owners of The Dunes, for gifting rooms to volunteers here
to help our residents at their time of need.
Carroll & Carroll Construction - That’s right, the company who just
repaved First, Butler, and Hwy 80, stopped work and paid all their
employees to help clean out and tear out homes.
The Legion and Post Theatre for hosting fundraising events.
residents of Spanish Hammock who provided meals to the

families with nothing to eat.
Chris Garbett, for organizing a laundry drive for the families who didn’t
have the time or option to take care of it themselves.
Breezy Riders for staying on the island and checking on all of our homes.
Jenn Knox for closing the Sand Bar, to allow her employees to get out
and help their fellow neighbors.
Georgia Power, I cried driving onto the island as I passed you working
so hard to get our livelihoods restored.
Jenny Orr, Caldwell Cottage, The American Red Cross, The
Salvation Army, thank you.
Hotel Tybee, The Red Hat Ladies, thank you.
The Tybee Island Police Department and Tybee Island Fire Deptartment
for keeping our homes safe, our people safe, and furthermore
putting themselves in danger to protect our property and us.
The City of Tybee for keeping us informed and up-to-date.
Jason Buelterman for not resigning when realistically no other mayor
has ever had TWO Federally Declared Disasters in 11 months on this
island.
locals, churches, bars, restaurants and shops, thank you.
anonymous, we know who you are.
friends, volunteers, visitors, relatives, and strangers. Thank you
for your efforts. They have not gone unnoticed. We appreciate and love
you all from the bottom of our hearts. YOU are what makes Tybee ...
Tybee.
