Usually I know what’s up before I walk into an interview. I know the
person and I have a good jist of what to expect. Well, this is a first
for me as I knew this guy in passing, but not really. Imagine my
delight to meet the biggest smile on Tybee!! Robby Blanks is that
man and you can find him at the Rock House Bar & Grill. What a
legitimate nice guy! It was a pleasure to sit down with this smile and
find out what is going on with Mr. Robby Blanks! Here is his story.
Born and raised in Ventura, California, Robby was raised with his
two brothers and did his school thing as we all do. Graduating from
high school, Robby went straight into the silk screen and embroidery
business. After eight years, the business closed and as one door
does that, another door opens. The Navon Clan (which he is a cousin
of) called, and as the family is so very close-knit, asked him to come
to Tybee for the summer to just check it out and see what was what.
Well, that was in 2011. Starting out as a busboy, Robby quickly
moved up the ranks from server to bartender to manager. Must have
been that smile!
Happily married to Diana, with little son Mason, Robby is living the
dream! Naturally, I had to ask the most important Questions of Life:
Tybee Life: Since 2011 (you do the math - I’ve been drinking)
Passion: Family
When he grows up: Become a professional poker player! And
yes he’s good!
Spirit Animal: He had a tough time with this one, but we agreed
on a Laughing Hyena. Always laughing and smiling. Perfect!
Robby’s go to drink is the Robby B Energizer! I know the
ingredients, but I’m not telling. Order it and you will have zero
regrets ... until the next day!!! Good stuff.
So Robby is going to keep on keeping on here on our rock of
paradise. You can catch him Wednesday through Sunday slinging
drinks and doing his thing. While you are there, check out the
Hookah Lounge next door. Rock House also offers karaoke Sunday
through Thursday with live music on Thursdays as well. Food is
served seven days a week from 11am to 3am. So go see that
fantastic contagious smile that Robby rocks and get your Energizer.
You will hate him tomorrow... in a good way.
