2018 committees open for service
Volunteer for an ORRA committee and help guide your association’s future
Want to make an impact on the future of
your association and your profession? Help
chart ORRA's direction by sharing your time,
talents, and expertise as a volunteer on an
ORRA committee.
ORRA is seeking individuals
to fill openings on
some of its more than 20
committees, task forces,
councils, and forums
for 2018. Review the
committee descriptions
below, then head to orlandorealtors.org/
GetInvolved for any updates and to submit a
service request form.
The deadline to submit committee request
forms is November 17, 2017.
COMMITTEES
• Awards – Organizes, plans, and implements
ORRA’s yearly awards program (requires
one prior committee experience).
• Budget and Finance – Provides oversight
of financial and budgetary aspects of the
association’s operations.
• Bylaws and Policies - Reviews ORRA’s governing
documents to ensure they remain
current to Florida Real Estate Commission,
Florida REALTORS®, and National Association
of REALTORS® rules.
• Communications – Oversees the communications
efforts of the association, including
internal and external messages.
• Community Relations – Encourages member
participation in community projects,
organizes activities and events.
• Governmental Affairs – Tracks legislation
and regulations at local, state, and
national levels that affect the real estate
industry; participates in public meetings;
and communicates with governmental officials.
Handles RPAC fundraising through
its Subcommittee.
• Grievance – Receives ethics complaints
and arbitration requests and determines
whether hearings are warranted (mandatory
training required).
• Investment – Bears responsibility for the
association’s activities related to investing
and asset allocation.
• Member Services – Provides guidance regarding
membership policies, represents
the needs of the general membership, and
addresses development issues. Organizes
and participates in community events
and activities that give all members the
opportunity to become involved.
• MLS – Makes recommendations to the
Board of Directors concerning issues and
policies related to MFRMLS operations.
• Professional Standards – Conducts hearings
on unethical conduct by ORRA members
or in arbitration of business disputes
(mandatory training required; requires
three years prior service on Grievance
Committee).
TASK FORCES
• Facilities – Oversees the physical assets
of the association and reviews bids for
maintenance repairs, improvements, and
furnishings. Recommends expenditures.
• Standards – Responsible for updating the
Gold Key Certification course and criteria.
Develops and recommends additional
educational offerings for professionalism
standards.
FORUMS
• Affiliate – Brings together affiliate members
in order to develop programs and
opportunities that foster REALTOR®-affiliate
networking opportunities.
• Independent Small Broker – Coordinates
council activities such as gathering broker
input on industry issues and planning
events.
• Professional Development – Seeks to
improve REALTOR® professionalism and
productivity via educational programming
suitable for all segments of membership.

Totes for Hope
ORRA members donate
hurricane relief items, pack
totebags for those affected
ORRA members contributed
toiletries and personal supplies
for Florida REALTORS®’ “Totes
For Hope” hurricane relief
program, which sent loaded
totebags to victims in Houston
and throughout Florida (including
here in Orlando!).
Volunteers of the ORRA
Community Relations Committee
gathered in the ORRA
Conference Room (prior to its
destruction in Hurricane Irma)
to sort and bag donated items
ranging from hair care products
to crayons for keeping little
ones in shelters occupied.

COMMITTEES
• Global – Plans council programs
and events to increase members’
international real estate knowledge
and opportunities.
• Commercial – Provides continuing
education and networking forums
to enhance REALTOR® success in
commercial real estate.
• Young Professional – Develops
programs and events to help
young real estate professionals
excel through tools and support
via mentors, networking, and
community service opportunities.
