Record Manufacturer Participation in
GT Classes at Sebring
Corvette is the defending Sebring and GTLM champion heading into 2018
Never before have so many major automotive manufacturers
participated in the GT classes at Sebring’s
legendary 12-hour classic. The IMSA WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship is bringing stellar lineup of
cars and drivers to the 66th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of
Sebring, March 14-17, 2018.
Corvette, winner at Sebring in 2017, will return as
defending GTLM (GT Le Mans) champion, but they
will have a tough road ahead of them as Porsche,
BMW, Ferrari and Ford are all coming back to contest
the world’s premier level of GT
competition. BMW will debut
an all new car while Porsche
is bringing the drivers who
recently clinching the World
Endurance Championship
prototype title. As always, the
Chip Ganassi Ford team will
have an all-star cast of drivers
in an attempt to capture their
first Sebring win.
In the GTD (GT Daytona) category,
teams erepresenting Audi, Porsche,
Acura, Mercedes AMG, Lexus,
Ferrari, Lamborghini and BMW are
all expected to be on the grid at
Sebring. In 2017, Mercedes scored
its first class win at Sebring in 60
years, edging out Audi and Ferrari
in a thrilling finish.
