You will stitch the batting and backing to the placemat by
stitching in the ditch.
Once you have secured all layers, the back of the placemat
will look like this.
Now you will prepare to bind the placemat. using a 64” by 2
1/2” strip of fabric. We pieced together two strips to achieve the
correct length.
Your materials will look like this once cut. Again, make sure you
leave an extra 2” of batting and backing on all sides.

Continue attaching the batting and backing by stitching around
the placemat, approximately 1/4” outside the tackdown stitch.
Next, take your rotary blade and ruler and trim the placemat to
1/2” seam allowance on all four sides.
