Next, lay your backing fabric face down and lay your quilt top
on top of it.
Using a walking foot, carefully stitch in the ditch through all
of the layers by machine stitching in the seam lines of the
quilt with either a matching thread or mono-filament. We also
stitch around the outside of the entire quilt, within the seam
allowance, so you don’t see it once it is bound.don’t see it
once it is bound.
Start by cutting your binding strips. Our strips are 2.5” wide,
which creates an approximate 5/8” binding. We cut ours on
the straight of grain or the bias depending on how much
coordinating fabric we have left.
Note: We layered cotton and organza to use as our binding.
Next we’ll be using quilting safety pins to attach the quilt top to
our backing fabric. They are curved, which makes it easier to
pin through all of the layers.

Carefully pin the layers together inside the quilt blocks. We use
4 pins inside each block. You do not want your fabric to shift
while you quilt your layers together.
Next, trim the excess backing from around your quilt. Your
seam allowance will still be ½” Now we will attach the binding.
