ic. They seem to be very in tune with one another and have great
communicaon. ne of the more important sides of the game
try to teach our girls is communicaon when they are out there
on the ice. t is absolutely vital to be successful in so many ways
and feel as though the U.S. women are a great representaon
of that.”
Many players from the Lightning’s girls program watched the
pracces and games, marveling at the lympic players. Savannah
Scianna said her favorite part of playing on a girls team is “the
locker room” while Madi cely is to meet her hero, night.
“They’re so ecited,” owness said. We cancelled our team
pracce so the girls could come out and watch USA vs. anada at
Florida Hospital enter ce. feel as though they will learn more
about teamwork, communicaon, the importance of playing
your posion and playing with passion from watching the game
than we could ever coach them on the ice for 60 minutes.”
The mark that the USWNT le on the local and state hockey
communies is something that cannot be measured. t is intangible.
The lasng impact the team leaves will be seen when
a young girl takes the ice for the rst me in her life in hockey
skates instead of gure skates, and in the bedrooms of girls who
have posters of night and Amanda essel on their walls instead
of hip-hop singers and movie stars. Hockey in Florida is growing
fast, and girls hockey is growing even faster. t shows no signs of
slowing down anyme soon.
