The Island Building
In Palmetto, near the foot of the Green Bridge, sits a prime
piece of riverfront property on which the VanDerNoord
family has, over the years, developed into a thriving marinarestaurant
banquet business - a destination in and of itself.
On-site already is the 350-slip resort-style Regatta Pointe Marina,
pier connecting to an actual, natural island. On that island sits
the large, Old Florida-style structure that houses the Riverhouse
Reef & Grill restaurant, and its outdoor bar, the Snook Deck.
The building is also a premier wedding and event venue. On the
matter where you are on property the views - of the mile-wide
spectacular, and certainly part of the Riverhouse’s draw. More
than 100 weddings take place here every year.
“What we do here is waterfront,” said Peter VanDerNoord, who
owns the property with his family, and who runs the Riverhouse
Chicago-style pizzeria and tavern on Cortez Road in Bradenton.
“We’ve got to have good food, we’ve got to have good service.
But we also offer a great experience,” he said. “The Riverhouse
is all about that experience.”
