from head to toe. Those candies are only chemicals
and sugar.”
When Nicole became a teenager the condition
seemed to subside and she started eating anything
she wanted. Years of watching others eat a plethora
of food had left her frustrated, and she needed to
find out for herself what things tasted like.
It was, she found, somewhat overrated.
“About five years ago I realized the amount of
chemicals we are eating in our food,” she said.
“Most processed foods are full of chemicals. I
believe bad illnesses like cancer are due to ingesting
chemicals, so I went back to eating healthy foods
only.
“When I was a child I didn’t care what food
my mom gave me. I didn’t know if it was
organic or not, I didn’t pay attention to whether
it was healthy or not. Now, I do care very
much.”
Nicole’s said her parents must have taken her
to at least 40 or 50 doctors, but none of them
could diagnose her. One doctor, though, knew
immediately what was going on as soon as
Nicole and her parents walked in the door of
his office.
“Oh poor child, poor parents,” the doctor
said. Nicole said that moment signified a turning
point in her life.
“It was such a relief,” she said.
Nicole said not long after her diagnosis more
and more people in Germany started to display
symptoms of the same type of illness, and she
can’t help but wonder if that wasn’t when more
processed and chemical-filled food started to
arrive in her home country.
“Researchers have found that artificial
sweeteners cause cancer, too,” she said. “There
